Mentoring and Coaching for Enterprise Project Management

Many implementation approaches to Enterprise Project Management focus on installing, configuring, piloting and rolling out software while including end user training. While this approach seems to make a lot of sense, it is not uncommon for implementations to falter, or worse, fail.

One area of risk, is how end users are trained and supported. Often classroom training is provided, but it is not enough to get users to make the necessary changes in their work. It’s all too easy for them to drift back to the old ways of working.

It is essential to monitor how new project management techniques and processes are being adopted by the end user community. Equally, end user training should be role based, teaching just the functionality to allow a particular role to be effective. Finally, it is important to provide direct support to individuals where and when it is needed.
