Major UK Telecommunications Operator
The client faced challenges in bringing a major programme under control (circa £10bn spend) to replace copper cable with fibre optics throughout it’s subterranean network. The projects goal is an across the board business transformation to deliver ultra fast broadband services to corporate clients. The new network will deliver significantly more revenue whilst removing costly redundant legacy infrastructure. The client had undergone an implementation of CA Clarity tools some years prior to Kinley’s engagement.
Kinley’s role was to assess and report on all aspects of the control processes of the programme including the validity of how those processes relate to the project life cycle and the appropriateness of the tools to support and automate them. This extended beyond the project management tools to consider integration between project and finance (PM and ERP) Further Kinley was asked to report on the competence and capability of the people to drive the tools in a manner which would support the reporting requirements.
The output of the assessment was a report documenting status and a short term “get well plan” ie recommendations for immediate improvements.
