P6 to Cobra Drop In Replacement

We’re close to a version 1.0 of the drop in replacement for the P6 Integration between Deltek Cobra and Primavera. This is used by the Cobra Integration Wizard. The idea is that our product can be copied into the same directory as the Cobra one and no further changes are needed. However, if you want to make use of a remote Primavera API, then it’s a couple of changes to a properties file and away you go.

We’re in the throws of producing some simple documentation and testing it. We spent a lot of time trying to work out what was in the file created by Deltek, and found some useful information about the integration. We were watching the SQL being generated by Deltek, and noticed it doing a lot of work it didn’t need to do. As a consequence our product is quicker than Deltek’s even in local mode, and of course the Primavera Integration Server is out of bounds for the vanilla Deltek Cobra.

We’re trying to think of other capabilities that may be of use, that we are able to implement. The best we have thought of is being able to cope with a Primavera Project Id that contains spaces.

With our current client commitments we think we’ll get it released in December – just in time for Christmas.
