Recently, I have been in discussion with colleagues about how Project Management doesn’t really have much in the way of a tried and tested theory to back it up. The PMBOK has ten Planning processes, one Executing and two Controlling processes. I’m certain I’m not the only person who thinks there’s something missing in that Project Management equation. We’re close to a version 1.0 of the drop in replacement for the P6 Integration between Deltek Cobra and Primavera. This is used by the Cobra Integration Wizard. The idea is that our product can be copied into the same directory as the Cobra one and no further changes are needed. However, if you want to make use of a remote Primavera API, then it’s a couple of changes to a properties file and away you go.

Unfortunately the Cobra Integration doesn’t make use of the Primavera API in remote mode. We took a look at how it works and realised we could develop a drop in replacement that could make use of the Primavera API server.

Actually we’ve been playing around with Twitter where we are known as KinleyCo for a couple of months now. Interested as ever in technology that might help with communication, it started out as curiosity about all the buzz surrounding Twitter and now it’s difficult to put down. We’ve found it useful and although we’re not sure how much use it will be for managing projects, it is certainly good for getting messages out there and hearing about what our partners and those we follow are up to.
